Stefan de Leval Jezierski
Stefan de Leval Jezierski (born March 22, 1954 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American horn player and currently the longest-serving horn player with the Berlin Philharmonic .
Life
Jezierski studied horn with Myron Bloom at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the North Carolina School of the Arts . While still a student he performed as a soloist with the members of the Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall and was then appointed solo horn of the Kassel State Opera Orchestra in 1976.
In 1978 he was hired by Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic for the high horn. Since then he has been a member of the Berliner Philharmoniker and co-founder of the Scharoun Ensemble . He appears regularly as a soloist and chamber musician at major music festivals and in concert halls in Europe, America and Asia. He also teaches horn at the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic and is Professor hc at the Shanghai Conservatory .
His enthusiasm for jazz inspired him to create a jazz quintet with other North American top soloists in Berlin.
