Steffen Sebastian

Steffen Sebastian is a German economist . He holds the Chair for Real Estate Financing at the International Real Estate Business School at the University of Regensburg and Research Associate at the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim.

Life

After studying business administration at the University of Mannheim , he completed his doctorate in 2003 under Peter Albrecht on the subject of "Inflation risks in equity, pension and real estate investments". In 2006 he completed his habilitation on "Essays in Real Estate Finance" at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In 2006 he was appointed to the Chair of Real Estate Finance at the University of Regensburg. In 2007 he was the founding director of the Center of Finance at the University of Regensburg, and has been its deputy director since 2009. Since 2009 he has also been a Research Associate at the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim. He has been a member of the board of the European Real Estate Society (ERER) since 2014, and was its president from 2017–2018. He is also the spokesman for the thematic group “Real Estate and Capital Markets” at the University of Regensburg and co-editor of the European Journal of Real Estate Research and the magazine for real estate economics . Since 2017 he has also been chairman of the rent index commission of the gif Society for Real Estate Research
