Stegenthumbach is a district of the city of Eschenbach in the Upper Palatinate . The place and the former municipality of Stegenthumbach were located in what is now Grafenwöhr's military training area , the evacuated place was three kilometers south of Eschenbach. The settlement of Stegenthumbach (new) established in the course of the expansion of the military training area has moved closer to Eschenbach.

history

The rural community of Stegenthumbach was established in Bavaria in 1818 on the basis of the municipal edict . Before the Grafenwöhr military training area was expanded in 1936, it consisted of the districts of Boden im Tal, Breitenlohe, Hotzaberg, Kleinkotzenreuth, Netzart im Tal, Römersbühl, Weidlberg, Weihern and the village of Stegenthumbach. In 1933 the community had 336 inhabitants. The villages of Boden im Tal, Netzart im Tal, Römersbühl, Stegenthumbach and Weihern were replaced in 1936 and the residents resettled. In 1946 the rest of the community and the settlement of Stegenthumbach (new) as well as part of the Thomasreuth community were incorporated into Eschenbach in the Upper Palatinate.
