The Steigerturm is located in the Giesenkirchen district , Am Sternenfeld 3, in Mönchengladbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The tower was built between 1924 and 1926. It was entered under No. A 048 on July 4, 2000 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

The Steigerturm is located north of Friedensplatz on a property that can only be reached by a narrow driveway from the street Am Sternenfeld .

architecture

It is a three-storey fire brigade exercise tower built on a rectangular floor plan made of brick masonry. Flat projecting base with closed ground floor. The interior of the tower is accessed through an entrance on the southeast side. On the first and second floors, blind windows or two coupled windows each , which were used for training purposes (guides) and therefore have wooden sills .

The parapet zones are accentuated by brick cushions, some of which are placed on edge. Square motifs are also arranged on the second floor. At the edges of the building , a group of three bricked pointed ridges highlight the two floors vertically. These pointed ridges are plastered on the south side. A surrounding concrete cornice clearly separates the third floor, which is formed by a walled parapet zone.
