The quarry lake Wildschütz is a former quarry near Wildschütz , southeast of the main town Mockrehna in the district of North Saxony . With a depth of 74 meters it is the second deepest lake in northern and central Germany. The area around the lake is designated as a mining prohibited area and may therefore only be entered and dived via the private diving school .

The main attraction for divers is the only active underwater station in Europe and one of only three in the world, which is nine meters deep. Due to its depth, the lake is a popular diving spot for the international tech diving scene as well as for apnea divers .
