Products

The main products of the Thuringian company are soft toys . They are designed, implemented and made by hand on site in our own design department. This also applies to the teddy bears , most of which are developed and produced in limited editions for collectors. To date, more than 1,000 different plush toys have been made by Steiner.

The company's product range includes cuddly toys, rocking, rocking and lying animals, collectors' items and custom-made items, costumes for walking acts and large plush toys with electromechanical drives. The trademark of Steiner GmbH Spielwarenfabrik is the black cat that forms the letter N in the company logo.

The factory outlet in Georgenthal is barrier-free , blind and visually impaired people appreciate the tactile experience of the free tours. Steiner products have also been marketed in their own online shop since 2011 . Organic cotton is used for the cuddly toy in around 20 percent of the range.

history

Main article see Franz Schmidt & Co.

The origins of Steiner GmbH toy factory extend into 1889 back when Franz Schmidt co-founded the doll factory Franz Schmidt & Co. was.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification , the toy tradition was continued on October 1, 1990 with the establishment of Steiner GmbH Spielwarenfabrik. Helga Steiner took over the management. High-quality toys made of plush were produced, initially in the former production facilities of the Franz Schmidt company. In 1993 Harald Steiner joined Steiner GmbH. In the same year, the new company building was started in order to guarantee modern production. Later, all of the former premises of the Franz Schmidt company were bought back by the Treuhand in order to accommodate production and storage.

The fourth generation of the family business has been run by Susanne Bier, the daughter of Helga and Harald Steiner, since 2004.

Trivia
