Stone house (Spessart)
The stone house is a sandstone cavity three kilometers (2.2 km as the crow flies) east of Rechtenbach am Rothenberg in Spessart . It served forest and quarry workers as a shelter and occasionally as night quarters. The incisions date back to 1776. It is controversial whether it is of natural or artificial origin.
The sandstone quarry has been designated as a valuable geotope by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (geotope number: 677G001).
