The stone box on the Col de la Creu del Principi is located in Albanyà , a small Catalan municipality in the province of Girona in northeastern Spain, and was discovered in 1986. It is mentioned as early as 947 in the ordination of the chapel of Sant Julia de Ribelles in the west of the Sierra de L'Albera. The megalithic complex is 1020 meters above sea level and is the only one in the Alta Garrotxa in the Pyrenees .

The pentagonal stone box lies on a limestone hill . The limestone slabs have a size of about 110 × 85 × 75 cm. Three of them are fixed in grooves in the natural rock. The complex was covered by a mound of earth, which was bordered by a stone wreath more than seven meters in diameter. The grave architecture can be dated to the Middle Neolithic (3500–2700 BC).

The people who built the stone box on the Creu de Principi practiced agriculture and livestock. Based on finds under the abrises and in the "Grotte de la Pólvora", the archaeologists believe that their groups are seasonal in this height, which is unusual for the construction of stone boxes.
