The Alta Garrotxa ( Catalan for Upper Garrotxa ) is an area of ​​the eastern pre- Pyrenees in Catalonia ( Spain ), which lies in the comarcas Garrotxa , Alt Empordà and Ripollès . Fauna , flora of the region and the few human settlements have created a relatively isolated natural space that has preserved its biological diversity and belongs to the 120 km² volcanoes of the Garrotxa nature reserve with 40 preserved volcanic cones.
