The comarca of Ripollès is in the province of Girona in the Autonomous Community of Catalonia ( Spain ). The community association has an area of ​​956.2 km² and 25,087 inhabitants (2019).

The community association is located in the north-eastern part of Catalonia, 75 km northwest of the provincial capital Girona . It borders on France to the north, the Comarca Garrotxa to the east, Osona to the south and Berguedà and Cerdanya to the west . Together with the comarcas Alt Empordà , Baix Empordà , Garrotxa, Gironès , Pla de l'Estany and Selva , the region forms the territory of Comarques Gironines .

Ripollès is located in the high mountain region of the Pyrenees . The highest peaks, the Puigmal (2,913 m) and the Puig de Bastiments (2,874 meters), are in the north on the French border.
