The Comarca Solsonès is located in the province of Lleida in the Autonomous Community of Catalonia ( Spain ). The community association has an area of 1,001 km² and 13,469 inhabitants (2019). Over 60% of the population live in the capital Solsona.

location

The association of municipalities is located in the center of Catalonia, 85 km northeast of the provincial capital Lleida. It borders in the northwest on the comarca Alt Urgell , in the west on Berguedà and Bages , in the south on Anoia and Segarra and in the east on Noguera . Together with the Comarcas Anoia, Bages, Berguedà, and Osona , the community association forms the territory of Comarques Central .

The southern and central part of Solsonès lies in a plateau, the Central Catalan Depression, with individual mountain ranges up to 900 m in height. The northern part is mountainous and lies in the foothills of the Pyrenees ( Pre-Pyrenees ). Here are the mountain ranges, the Serra d'Oliana , Turp , Querol , Guixers , Busa and Verd . On the border with Alt Urgell is the El Port del Comte mountain range with the highest mountains in the Comarca, the Pedró dels Quatre Batlles ( 2382 m ) and the Tossa Pelada ( 2378 m ). The Cardener river , a tributary of the Llobregat , crosses Solsonès from north to south and feeds 2 reservoirs, the Pantà de la Llosa del Cavall and Pantà de Sant Ponç .

economy

Solsonès is strongly influenced by agriculture and forestry . Grains , potatoes and sunflowers are grown . There are industrial companies mainly in the food and wood processing industries.

Due to the ski area at Port del Comte and the scenic beauty of the Comarca, tourism is becoming increasingly important.
