Setcases ( ˌsɛtˈkazəs ) ( Catalan for ' seven houses ') is a Spanish municipality in the comarca of Ripollès in the province of Girona . It is located near the source of the Ter Riverin the Pyrenees .

Setcases is first mentioned in 965 in a gift from Sunifred II , Count of Cerdanya , to the monastery of Sant Pere de Camprodon .

The 17th century church of Sant Miquel de Setcases houses a Baroque altarpiece dedicated to the Archangel Michael . It is the only one of its kind in the Camprodon valley that survived the destruction of the church during the Spanish Civil War .

Setcases is a popular tourist destination in the Ripollès region, both for mountain hiking in the Ulldeter area and for winter sports with the Vallter ski station .
