Gombrèn ( called Gombreny until 1984 ) is a Catalan municipality in the comarca of Ripollès .
Demographics
For a few centuries Gombrèn had barely 20 inhabitants, only since the 18th century have there been several hundred, in 1787 and 1857 even more than 1000 were counted. Since then, the population has decreased again and is currently around 200 inhabitants.
The city's best-known son is Francisco Coll (1812–1875), priest and founder of a Dominican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, who was beatified in 1979 and canonized in 2009.
