  • The Comarques gironines ( "Comarcas of Girona " ) are one of seven territories ( àmbits funcionals territorials ) of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia , which were adopted by law in 1995 with the regional plan ( Pla territorial general de Catalunya ).

    The Comarques Gironines have an area of ​​5558 km² and 573.123 inhabitants (2009). The territory is located in the far east of Catalonia on the border with France .
