Bellevue stone chest

The stone box Coffre von Bellevue ( French Coffre de Bellevue or Coffre mégalithique du château de Bellevue ) excavated in 1901 is located 500 m southwest of the village of Presles in the Val-d'Oise department in France between the communal cemetery and the water tower.

The Neolithic stone box is the smallest collective burial in the Val-d'Oise. It consists of four limestone slabs 60 to 80 cm high and 25 cm thick. They form a rectangle a little less than 2.0 m long and 1.0 m wide. During the excavation, the remains of eight people (three women, two men and three children) were found. The grave goods consisted of a polished flint ax, an ax amulet made of serpentine and pottery shards. The excavations also revealed a number of smaller stones around the box that could be the remains of a cairn or tumulus .

Nearby are the gallery tombs Allée couverte Le Blanc Val , Dolmen de la Pierre Plate and La Pierre Turquaise .
