The stone circles from Kerr Batch belong to the Senegambian stone circles . These lie in a band 100 kilometers wide and 350 kilometers long. They include more than 1000 monuments along the Gambia River in the West African states of Gambia and Senegal . In 2006 they were included as a World Heritage Site . They are concentrated in four groups: Sine Ngayène, Wanar, Wassu and Kerr Batch. Similar stone circles are known in the south as far as Guinea .

The most remarkable megalith of all of Gambia is located on a fenced-in area at Kerr Batch , next to a double stone circle. The stone of a V-shaped figure is carved from a single block. It is the only one for Gambia, in Senegal there are several more with this shape.

In Kerr Batch, the Kerr Batch Stone Circles Museum was established with the help of UNESCO .

In 2006 the site was added to the World Heritage List.

In February 2020, Hamat NK Bah , Minister of Tourism and Culture visited the site. He announced that redevelopment of the site and the associated Kerr Batch Stone Circles Museum will begin soon.
