The Senegambian stone circles are in a band 100 kilometers wide and 350 kilometers long, they include more than 1000 monuments along the Gambia River in the West African states of Gambia and Senegal . On July 12, 2006, four groups of these stone circles at Sine Ngayène, Wanar, Wassu and Kerr Batch were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List . Similar stone circles are known even in the south of Senegal as far as Guinea .
