The Delta du Saloum National Park ( French Parc National du delta du Saloum , often also Sine Saloum National Park) is located on the Senegalese Atlantic coast of the Fatick region within the delta of the Saloum and Sine rivers . Its area is 76,000 hectares.

history

The national park was founded in 1976, includes one of the most important mangrove populations in West Africa and has been a biosphere reserve since 1980 and a Ramsar reserve since 1984 . It has been a World Heritage Site since 2011 .

fauna

The fauna in the Delta du Saloum National Park includes wild mammals such as the primates hussar monkey and West African colobus monkey , marine mammals such as dolphins and manatees , antelopes such as crown duiker and bushbuck , as well as warthog and spotted hyena .
