Kuntaur (spelling variant: Kunta-ur , Kuntaur Fulla Kunda and Kuntaur Wharf Town ) is a town in the West African state of Gambia .
According to a calculation for 2013, there are around 3,074 inhabitants, the result of the last published census from 1993 was 2,286.
geography
Kuntaur, in the administrative unit Central River Division , District Niani , located on the north bank of the Gambia River , about three kilometers south of Wassu and 13 kilometers north of Janjanbureh removed. The North Bank Road , an important highway from Gambia, crosses Wassu, where the famous Wassu stone circles are located.
Culture and sights
In Kuntaur Fulla Kunda, a Senegambian stone circle is known as a place of worship .
Economy and Infrastructure
Kuntaur is about 150 river kilometers away from the confluence with the Atlantic Ocean . The city is the last inland port that can be used by large seagoing ships . This port is a large transshipment point for peanuts and peanut products.
