Stone Park (Bud)

The Stone Park is a small park dedicated to the geology of the region in the village of Bud in the Norwegian municipality of Hustadvika .

location

The park is located in the northern part of the village immediately south of the former Army Coast Battery 17./976 Bud , now used as a museum . To the east is Bud Church .

layout

It was created in collaboration with the geologist Inge Brynhi and shows various rocks in the region. Rock blocks from the bedrock and loose rock found on the coast are shown. They are arranged in several groups according to the history of their creation. One group includes the gneisses that are frequently found in the region . A second group is formed by deep and dike rocks. Another group is formed by dark, metamorphic rocks formed in the Earth's interior under strong pressure. A fourth group includes marble and related metamorphic rocks, hornblende schist . In addition, there are boulders and sedimentary rocks that came here during the last ice age .
