Stone row by Maol Mor

The approximately 10.4 m long stone row of Maol Mor (also called Dervaig A or Frachadil) is about 1100 m north of the stone row of Kilmore near Dervaig in the northwest of the Isle of Mull in Argyll and Bute in Scotland .

The Menhire ( English Standing Stones ) of Mull are unique for Scotland, as they often in rows ( Baliscate , Dervaig C , Kilmore , Quinish ) are arranged three to five stones.

The north-west-south-east oriented Maol-Mor stones stand on the rock of Maol Mor in a clearing in the forest. There are four basalt menhirs , three of which are in situ and the fourth is on the ground.

  • Stone A lies and is 2.45 m long, 0.85 m wide and 0.5 m thick. Part of the base has broken off.
  • Stone B stands and is 2.1 m high, 0.9 m wide and 0.6 m thick at the base. It has straight sides and a rounded top.
  • Stone C stands and is 2.2 m high and measures 1.0 × 0.7 m at the base. The lower half of the south side shows a triangular chipping, whereby the stone tapers to a pointed point.
  • Stone D stands and is 2.1 m high and measures 1.2 × 0.85 m at the base. It tapers towards the flat tip.
