The Styrian transport association (brand name Verbund Linie ) was launched on February 28, 1994 by the Styrian state government . In the first stage of expansion ("Verkehrsverbund Großraum Graz"), the aim was to provide commuters to the provincial capital of Graz with a comprehensive network of public transport at a uniform rate. With the timetables coordinated in this way and the uniform network tariff, the greater Graz area (above all eastern, western and southern Styria) was reached first.

Three years later, on March 1, 1997, the transport association was expanded to include all of Styria. It currently brings together 54 transport companies with around 500 network lines.

The following transport companies belong to the Styrian Transport Association:

In recent years, the focus has been on expanding the range of digital information. The focus is on the online query of all network timetables (since July 7, 2003), the query of timetables from address to address and a central contact point as an information and service center ("Mobility Center" in Graz, since August 16, 2004) in the the current mobility and sales center of Graz Linien and the first Austrian mobility center with "Mobil Zentral" (existing since September 1997, at that time in Schönaugasse 6) can be found under one roof. In the meantime, the Styrian BusBahnBim information (web and app) is part of the Austrian traffic information system, in which all timetables from all over Austria can be accessed intermodally.

With the start of the bundled tendering of RegioBus services (starting in July 2018 with the planning region Graz-Nord, most recently on July 7, 2019 with the Weiz bus corridor), the first expansion stage of the real-time data collection system will begin. This should enable real-time data and connection security in the RegioBus network.
