Stenodynerus dentisquama is a hymenoptera from the family of the wasps (Vespidae).

features

The wasp reaches a body length of 9 to 11 millimeters. The species has a black colored body. The shoulder coverts (tegulae) are colored whitish yellow and have a darker central spot. The antennae are black. The species is difficult to distinguish from the other species of the genus Stenodynerus .

Occurrence

The species is common in Europe, especially in Central Europe, and is rare. It is not known which habitats are colonized. The flight time is from mid-June to mid-August.

Way of life

As with the other species of the genus Stenodynerus, the way of life has hardly been researched. It is known that the females create their nests in stems of plants and that the brood is supplied with caterpillars from small butterflies .
