Dictydiaethalium is a genus of slime molds from the Myxogastria group . It is distributed worldwide and comprises two types.

features

The fruiting bodies are pseudo-ethers made up of numerous, tightly pressed sporangia. The actually cylindrical sporangia are squeezed together at an angle polygonally by the pressure . At the time of maturity, the side walls of the sporangia disappear. The membranous peridium is then reduced to the upper ends, which form a mosaic-like bark. At the corner points there are permanent individual threads from the bark that form a pseudocapillitium . The hypothallus is neither spongy nor massive.

The spore mass is light, individually pale colorless in transmitted light .

The genus is distributed worldwide. Dictydiaethalium plumbeum is more widespread and more common than Dictydiaethalium dictyosporum .

Systematics and research history

The genus was first described by Józef Thomasz Rostafińsky in 1873 , the type species is Dictydiaethalium plumbeum . The genus includes two types:
