Stephan Barton

Stephan Barton (* 1953 in Jena ) is a German criminal law scholar , professor at Bielefeld University and criminal defense attorney .

Career

Barton studied from 1972 to 1978 in Bremen in the one-stage legal training .

From 1978 to 1980 he was a research assistant with Werner Maihofer at the Faculty of Law at Bielefeld University . He then did his community service at the Bremen Criminal Aid, where he a. a. established a debt regulator for delinquents .

The doctorate to Dr. jur. at the University of Bremen in 1981 from 1982 to 1988 a university assistant (C1) at the University of Hamburg (Faculty of Law II).

From 1988 to 1994 Barton worked as a lawyer ( criminal defense attorney ) in Bremen . At the same time, he took on a substitute professorship at the University of Hamburg from 1989 to 1991 , where he also received his habilitation in 1993 .

Since 1994 he has been Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at Bielefeld University . Research focuses on empirical judicial research, as well as in the areas of criminal defense , secondary prosecution and revision in criminal matters.

In addition, Barton continues to work as a criminal defense attorney. So he was u. a. Complainant in constitutional complaint proceedings against property fine .
