Stephan Grotz

Stephan Grotz (* 1966 ) is a German philosopher .

Life

He completed his studies (1987–1994) in art history , theater studies , general and comparative literature ( comparative literature ), Greek philology and philosophy in Munich and Berlin in 1994 with a master's degree. After receiving his doctorate in 1997 as Dr. phil. from 1997 to 1998 he was a research assistant at the Institute for General and Comparative Literature at LMU Munich . From 1999 to 2001 he was a DFG research fellow . From 2001 to 2007 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Regensburg . After completing his habilitation in philosophy in 2007, he was an academic senior counselor at the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Regensburg from 2007 to 2011 . From 2011 to 2013 he held a chair for philosophy at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (head of the department of Philosophy of the Middle Ages ). From 2013 to 2015 he taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Regensburg. Since September 2015 he has been a university professor for the history of philosophy at the KU Linz . He has been a member of the Senate since October 2015. Since November 2016 he has been Vice and Studies Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Art History

He is married and has two children. His main research interests are the philosophy of antiquity and the Middle Ages, metaphysics, philosophy of language, art theory and the concept of relation.
