Stephan Jolie

Stephan Jolie (* 1965 ) is a German old Germanist .

Life

He studied German, philosophy and musicology at the universities of Frankfurt am Main and Munich . After receiving his doctorate in 1995, he worked as a research assistant for older German literature at Goethe University until 2002 . After his habilitation in 2004 in the subject of German studies with special consideration of the older German literature at the department of modern philologies of the Goethe University Frankfurt, he represented professorships at the universities of Frankfurt, Erlangen - Nürnberg and the FU Berlin . In 2007 he accepted the professorship for literature of older eras at the German Institute in Faculty 05 - Philosophy and Philology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . Since January 2018 he has been Vice President for Studies and Teaching at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

His research areas are courtly epics in European vernacular languages, edition philology, rituality and literary nature, historical narratology and the beginnings of the prose novel, spatiality and imagery in courtly poetry and Wolfram von Eschenbach .
