Stephan Kohler

Stephan Kohler (* 1952 in Augsburg ) is a German manager . From 2006 to 2014 he was Chairman of the Management Board of the German Energy Agency .

Kohler initially worked for TÜV Bayern in the nuclear technology and radiation protection department and at MAN New Technologies in Munich . Afterwards he worked for "Hoch Temperatur Reaktorbau GmbH" in Mannheim . From 1981 he worked at the Öko-Institut Freiburg , and in 1983 he took over the management of the energy department. From 1988 he was in charge of setting up an environmental information office in Moscow . In 1991 he became managing director of the Lower Saxony Energy Agency, which was then newly founded by the State of Lower Saxony together with VEBA AG. In September 2000 Kohler first became managing director of the German Energy Agency, from May 2006 he was appointed chairman of the management board of DENA. At the end of 2014, Kohler left DENA after there had previously been a dispute about the accounting and, in some cases, the salaries of DENA employees, which was also initiated by an audit report by the Federal Audit Office.
