Stephan Laurenz de La Roque (also Stephan Laurent Delarocque ; * before 1695 in France ; † May 7, 1742 in Bonn ) was a French painter. Its official title was “Churfürstl. Rath and Cabinetsmähler ”.

Life

La Roque is one of the French artists whom Cologne Elector Joseph Clemens of Bavaria appointed to the Electoral Cologne court in Bonn after returning from his exile in France (1715) . La Roque can be traced there from 1718; In 1719 he was a "cabinet painter" in the class of "court chief officers". He created painted ceiling decorations for the elector and for other clients - for example, 1725–1727 for the Bonn city courtyard of Minister Ferdinand von Plettenberg , later Boeselagerhof , which was destroyed in World War II - and in 1736 for the stairwell of Falkenlust Castle in the castle park of Brühl. In addition, he drew designs for stucco decorations in the electoral palaces, also in Arnsberg (around 1725/30) and in Clemenswerth (1737–1742), for the aforementioned Plettenberger Hof in Bonn and also for the prayer book of the elector, engraved by Maria Joseph Clement Kaukol Clemens August (1729).
