Stephan Sturm

Stephan Sturm (born June 30, 1963 in Worms ) is a German manager and has been CEO of Fresenius SE since July 1, 2016 .

Life

Stephan Sturm studied economics and business administration at the University of Mannheim with a degree in business administration. He began his professional career in 1989 as a management consultant at McKinsey . He then worked for 13 years in various leading positions in investment banking, including at BHF-Bank , UBS and Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB). Before joining Fresenius, he worked as Managing Director at Credit Suisse First Boston, most recently as Head of Investment Banking for Germany and Austria. In this function he was also a member of the European Management Committee of the CSFB. In 2005, Sturm was appointed Chief Financial Officer ( CFO ) of Fresenius. As a result, he was instrumental in a number of strategic acquisitions. In 2014 Finance magazine therefore named him “Chief Financial Officer of the Year 2014”. On July 1, 2016, he took over as CEO of Fresenius, replacing Ulf Schneider . Under his leadership, the largest takeover in the company's history, the purchase of the Spanish hospital operator Quirónsalud , was initiated.
