Stephanie Harms

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stephanie Harms (* 1972 in Empelde ) is a German local politician ( CDU ). Since January 1, 2014 she has been the full-time mayor of the city of Ronnenberg ( Lower Saxony ).

Career

Harms worked for an auditing company in Hanover until the end of 2013.

Political career

Harms won the runoff election for mayor on October 6, 2013 with 52.8 percent of the vote, with a turnout of 45.0 percent and with the support of the Free Voters . She prevailed against her competitor Torsten Kölle ( SPD ) and broke through the long line of SPD mayors who had been ruling uninterruptedly since 1986. Her rival candidate in the first ballot, Torsten Jung (CDU), was in the new created 2,015 staff position over the Ronnenberger management business development and city marketing.

When Harms was elected mayor, the CDU did not have a majority in the city council, and it did not achieve that in the 2016 local elections. Competitor Torsten Kölle was appointed First City Councilor by the City Council on November 1, 2012. Harms no longer proposed him for this position in 2019.

Harms campaigned against the deposition of rubble on Ronnenberg potash heaps as a variant of renaturation. Their concern, which resulted in a resolution by the city council and the regional administration, was not supported by the CDU parliamentary group.

Because of the budget deficit in the 2020 budget, she pleaded for an increase in property and trade tax . Harms would like to finance the expansion of kindergartens and schools, the district sports facility and investments in fire protection.

Harms was accepted into the Ronnenberg Volunteer Fire Brigade at the 2020 annual general meeting.
