Stephen Asamoah-Boateng (* around 1958 in Ghana) is a leading politician in Ghana . He was Minister for Local Government, Rural Development & Environment under President John Agyekum Kufuor from 2004 to July 31, 2007 . In addition to his ministerial office, he holds a seat in the Ghanaian parliament for the Mfantseman West Constituency in the Central Region . Since August 1, 2007, he has held the office of Minister for Tourism and Minority Affairs.

He is often called Asabee or Asa B as an abbreviation of his double name.

education

Asamoah-Boateng graduated from the University of Ghana in Legon, a district of Accra, and obtained a Masters in Business Administration from one of the leading European management schools, Henley Management College, in Oxfordshire, UK. He lived in the UK for nearly 18 years.

Career

From 1980 to 1984 he was politically active as a youth organizer of the Popular Front Party in Ghana. During this time he was also on the NUGS Central Committee as the International Relations Secretary .

In 1984 he left Ghana and moved to Great Britain. In London he continued to be politically active between 1984 and 2000. First as a member and later as chairman of the United Progress Party International (UPPI) in London, which was founded by exiled members of the Danquah and Busia families, he worked on his political career. Other UPPI members are Joseph Henry Mensah , Kwadwo Mpiani and Thomas Broni , the former Vice Minister of the Interior. Also in London, he was a member of the Ghana Democratic Movement .

In London, he worked for a pharmaceutical company and as a consultant for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Great Britain. There he worked in the field of consulting services for small and medium-sized companies (business support service) .

Asamoah-Boateng became assistant to the then Chief of Staff, Jacob Okanka Obetsebi-Lamptey , in Ghana in 2001 when the NPP won the 2001 elections. Since then he has worked in the direct environment of President Kufuor in the government seat in Osu Castle in Accra.

In the course of his political career, Asamoah-Boateng held his first ministerial post as Vice Minister for Information since April 2003. Later in April 2005, he was appointed Vice Minister for Tourism and Modernization of the Capital. It was not until May 2006 that he was appointed Minister for Local Administration, Urban Development and the Environment by President John Agyekum Kufuor . From this ministerial office, he moved in August 2007 to the office of Minister for Tourism and Minority Affairs as the successor to Jacob Okanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, who voluntarily gave up this office on July 31, 2007 in order to be a candidate for the 2008 presidential election for the NPP deliver.
