Stephen Poplawski

Stephen Poplawski (born August 14, 1895 in Poland, † December 9, 1956 in Racine , Wisconsin ) was a Polish - American inventor and entrepreneur .

life and work

Poplawski emigrated with his parents to Racine in Wisconsin, USA, at the age of nine . In 1918 he founded the "Stephens Tool Co." and in 1919 he became the "Arnold Electric Co". hired to develop an automatic mixer for “malted milk” for restaurants, which was very popular in Racine. In the 1920s he received several patents for such devices and Arnold became the leading manufacturer for these devices. In the 1930s, he began constructing household mixers instead of commercial mixers in his spare time. For this purpose he founded the “Stephens Electric Company”. These devices were called Osterizer from 1946 after Poplawski had sold his company to the "John Oster Manufacturing Company".

In 1946 Poplawski retired and died in Racine in 1956.

Fred Osius improved Poplawski's invention in 1935 when he developed the Waring Blender from it.
