The Sterling Fluid Systems Group was created through corporate takeovers. In 1997 the Sterling parent company took over what was then SIHI, to which the companies SAT (SIHI AnlagenTechnik) and SIHI Berkefeld belonged at the time. In 1999 the American company PCU was taken over. In January 2015 the entire SIHI Group BV was taken over by Flowserve .

The Sterling Fluid Systems Group is itself a subsidiary of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Group , which was founded by Heinrich Thyssen . According to its own information, the Sterling Fluid Systems Group has a turnover of more than 250 million euros and around 1,600 employees worldwide. There are more than 100 locations that offer their services in more than 40 countries. However, sales are mainly concentrated in Europe and North America.

In February 2008 it was announced that the Thyssen Bornemisza Group intends to sell Sterling Fluid Systems. The sale of Sterling Fluid Systems did not take place at the end of 2009 due to the global economic crisis. The company successfully weathered the economic crisis.

In 2010, the subsidiary SAT Anlagentechnik GmbH was sold to a private investor group and has been operating independently since then. The SIHI Group has been part of the Flowserve Corporation since 2015. According to the newspaper Rheinpfalz at the beginning of September 2015, the parent company intends to close the Ludwigshafen am Rhein location. 250 remaining employees in production, planning / construction and administration are affected. The product range should u. a. to be relocated to the USA. Since the office building, which was inaugurated in 2013 and cost € 12 million, was newly built with municipal and state grants, the state and the city of Ludwigshafen are examining possible repayment claims.

Sterling SIHI Itzehoe

The Sterling Fluid Systems group currently includes the following companies:

  • Sterling SIHI GmbH - In 1920 Otto Siemen and Johannes Hinsch founded Siemen & Hinsch mbH (SIHI) in St. Margarethen on the Elbe , whose headquarters were then moved to Itzehoe in 1925 .
  • HALBERG Maschinenbau GmbH - In 1971, Halberg Maschinenbau GmbH, based in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, was taken over by SIHI. In November 2014 it was taken over by Flowserve Corporation, which announced the closure of the main Ludwigshafen plant in September 2015.
  • Sterling SAT GmbH - was founded in 1971 as a sister company (SIHI Anlagentechnik GmbH) of SIHI in Itzehoe . In 2001 Sterling SAT GmbH relocated its headquarters to Dägeling . Sterling SAT GmbH has also had a sales and service center in Shanghai since 2004 . SIHI Anlagentechnik GmbH is no longer part of the Sterling Fluid Systems Group and continues to be based in Dägeling under the new company name SAT Anlagentechnik GmbH and is active in plant construction in the automotive industry.
  • Sterling PCU Inc. - Part of Sterling Fluid Systems Group since 1999 and headquartered in Dayton, Ohio .
