Star ride

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A star ride is a rider meeting in which the riders start from different places to meet. Longer star rides are a form of trail riding .

Occasions

Popular occasions for multi-day star rides are horse fairs (e.g. Equitana , Eurocheval ), horse shows , stallion shows, etc.

One-day star rides are often organized in connection with festive days: St Martin's ride , Nikolaus ride, a horse blessing , solstice, open day at a riding school or stud .

organization

Each participant plans the route himself. Often several participants from a riding school come together or the participants form small groups of riders on the way to reach the goal together. In the case of multi-day star rides, the stage accommodation for rider and horse is sometimes organized in advance, sometimes every rider looks for accommodation individually and spontaneously at the end of the day. Some trail riders have their own mini electric fence in their luggage.

At the destination, the organizer usually organizes permanent accommodation in stables or on pastures. Sometimes makeshift stands are set up for the horses from wooden poles.

Attendees

In the case of one-day star rides, the field of participants is often mixed, as many riders from the catchment area take part. Depending on the occasion, horse and rider are also spruced up, so that western riders in full show habit together with tournament riders in black and white accompany a historical team in addition to some Icelanders.
