Steve Sabor (* 1965 in Cottbus ) is a German poet and cultural scientist. He is co-founder of the artist group Nachtlabor.

Life

Steve Sabor grew up in Cottbus. At the age of 14 he studied the poet Hermann Hesse, at 17 he read Schopenhauer and Nietzsche. In the summer of 1983 he graduated from high school in Cottbus. Harvest jobs followed before he was called up for military service on a field airfield in the GDR's National People's Army in November 1983. After the end of the army he began studying at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, which he broke off. Back in Cottbus, he kept himself afloat with temporary jobs and became active in the subculture of the GDR.

After the fall of the Wall in 1989 , he completed a degree in cultural studies and worked as a club leader, innkeeper and manager of the Cottbus band SANDOW and as a social scientist.

From the mid-1990s, his texts were u. a. Published in the magazines HERMANN, Minotaurus, Härter, Gegenwind, SUBH, Junge welt, Herzgalopp, Sterz, DUM, Der Mongolewart, PhoBi, Holunderground - and anthologies (Kaltlandbeat - New German Scene).

Since 1998 there has been an annual book production in cooperation with artist friends such as Hans Scheuerecker , Mona Höke, Chris Hinze or Thomas Richert. Mostly poems in noble mini-editions that delight lovers as art objects. The graphic and text volume "Ambivalenz", published in 2000, is honored by the Book Art Foundation in the exhibition "Most Beautiful German Books 2001".

In addition to the volumes of poetry, short stories and a novel were created.

Sabor is a member of the VG Wort, his works are regularly presented at the "Days of the Open Brandenburg Book", at the fair "Beautiful Books from Brandenburg" and during "Loose Art" by Christiane Wartenberg, the 2019 art award winner of the State of Brandenburg.

Steve Sabor lives in Cottbus.
