Hans Scheuerecker (born August 7, 1951 in Römhild ) is a German painter and graphic artist . He lives in Cottbus .

Career

After finishing school, he completed an apprenticeship as an electrician in Eisenhüttenstadt from 1967 to 1969 . After completing his military service , Hans Scheuerecker moved to Cottbus in 1971, where he worked for two years as an intern in the painting hall of the Cottbus State Theater . From 1973 to 1979 he worked in a wide variety of activities such as stage technician , locksmith , construction handyman, babysitter, poster sticking, doorman and movie ticket tears.

painting

His application to study painting at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts in 1975 was rejected, as was his candidacy for the Association of Fine Artists of the GDR, which was submitted in 1978. In 1979, however, he was accepted by the central board and has been working freelance in Cottbus ever since. From 1982 to 1986 he held a teaching position at the branch of the Dresden University of Fine Arts in Cottbus.

From 1982 to 1991 there was a b / w period, in 1984 he began with the actionist work, in 1989 the collaboration with the rock / punk group Sandow , for which he designed sets, record covers and the like. From 1990 he turned back to the panel painting . Hans Scheuerecker is the first recipient of the Brandenburg State Art Prize, which he received in 1992. In 1995 he was a guest in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) on a scholarship.

Scheuerecker is still denied a large individual show at the place of his work, which was already planned for 2011. The director of the Dieselkraftwerk art museum accused Scheuerecker of not keeping appointments and thus hindering the preparation of the exhibition, which he denies, and canceled the exhibition that was set for October 2013.

Plastic work

He began sculpting in 1996 and caused a stir four years later when his graphic “Sculpture 2000” (black steel, approx. 4.5 × 3 m) was installed in a central location in Cottbus. At the same time he was commissioned to design the foyer of the Cottbus town hall. He implemented this with black inlays in gray granite. In 2003 the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg broadcast a documentary about him with the title “Dreamers in Paradise”.
