Life

Friedrich spent his childhood in Bad Muskau , where he also attended the polytechnic high school. He also attended a sports school in Dresden and graduated from high school in 1971 at the extended high school in Weißwasser. He then worked in various professions until 1994 and also dealt with sculpture, painting and graphics. In 1994 he suffered poisoning with tuber mushrooms from a canned mushroom that his late mother had boiled down; then a liver was transplanted to him in the right of the Isar in Munich. The poisoning also damaged his kidneys, so that he had to rely on dialysis for several years. In 1999, Friedrich finally had a kidney transplant, also on the right of the Isar. He has been unable to work since 1994, has been writing since 2001 and has published since 2003. Since 2009 he has been a member of the Association of German Writers . Friedrich lives in Weißwasser.

Cultural-historical work

Initially, Friedrich mainly dealt with people from Prince Pückler's environment. Among other things, he published together with Ernst-Jürgen Dreyer the book “Written with enthusiasm and not for money.” Leopold Schefer as a composer , who was a childhood friend of Pückler and from 1812 to 1816 was officially his general inspector. As a result, Schefer's Roman Quartet No. 1 , a string quartet in D minor, was premiered in June 2010 in the Orangery in Bad Muskauer Park. Bernd-Ingo Friedrich introduced Leopold Schefer's life and work. In 2012 he contributed to the publication Art and Science around 1800 of the Upper Lusatian Society of Sciences in Görlitz with his contribution “Literary Studies and Music” . In the same year he wrote program No. 3 (for the world premiere of Leopold Schefer's Roman Quartet No. 3 ) for the Lusatian Music Summer 2012.
“The monograph [ Heinrich Stieglitz, a monument ] will for the time being an important source for a generally underestimated epoch of German intellectual life, whose designation as the Biedermeier period always sounds a little disqualifying. "( Sebastian Hennig ; see literature.)

On the basis of his research, the entry relating to the Jewish antiquarian and autograph dealer David Salomon in the “Berlin Memorial Book of Jewish Victims of the Nazi Era” was completed; his name was included in the "German Memorial Book"; put a memorial sheet for him in Yad Vashem. On May 6, 2014, a stumbling block for David Salomon was laid on Westfälische Strasse 63 in Berlin-Halensee (Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf).

Historical paperweights - paperweights from Brandenburg and Saxony brings together the results of fifteen years of field research by the author on the subject of "damaged glass" in the Lusatian glass industry. The main finding is that the paperweights that were created in this way were genuine, late folk art, which flourished during the industrialization phase of glassmaking, when traditional forms of folk art declined.
