Steven Küchler (born November 5, 1975 in Schmölln ) is a German boxer and trainer.

Life

Steven Küchler grew up in Weimar , where he started boxing. He moved to Halle, where he boxed in the Bundesliga team at SV Halle. Küchler won the European Junior Championships and was third in the featherweight division at the 1992 Junior World Championships . He won the chemistry cup in Halle 7 times : in the lightweight in 1996, in the light welterweight in 1995, 1997, 1998 and in the welterweight in 1999, 2000 and 2001.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 he had to admit defeat to the Romanian Dorel Simion and finished fifth. His record: out of 261 amateur fights, he won 234.

Küchler won the German championship in 1996, 1998 and 1999 as well as the military world championship in 1995 and 1998.

As a professional, Steven boxed “Mr. Hollywood “Küchler for Universum boxing promotion and retired after his 7th fight and a long string of injuries.

Küchler studied sport in Cologne and in 2007 became head coach at Arena Box-Promotion . From 2005 to 2010 he worked in Leipzig as a freelance personal trainer and head trainer as well as manager of the boxing club BC Olympia Leipzig 05 eV

In August 2009 Küchler prepared the winner of the All-Africa Games 2003 in super heavyweight Gbenga Oluokun for his fight against the ex-WBO world champion Lamon Brewster . Gbenga Oluokun won the fight.

On June 5, 2010, Küchler made his comeback, this time in the middleweight division in the Brandbergehalle in Halle and won against 23-year-old Pavol Garaj on points. He was prepared for the fight by his former trainer Hans-Jürgen Witte.

From 2011 Küchler worked in Berlin with Domenic von Chrzanowski, with whom he won the title of Junior World Champion of the WBU in the super middleweight division. Then he looked after the three-time world champion Nicole Wesner .
