Steven Lukes

Steven Michael Lukes (* 1941 ) is a British sociologist and social philosopher .

After completing his academic training at the University of Oxford ( PhD on Émile Durkheim ), Lukes was professor at the European University Institute , the University of Siena , the University of Florence and the London School of Economics . Eventually he became a professor at New York University . In 1974 he released with Power. A Radical View is probably his best-known scientific work. In 2005 an expanded version of the book was published.

In addition to his specialist publication, Lukes also wrote the utopian-political novel "The Curious Enlightenment of Professor Caritat" .
