Steven Reid (born March 10, 1981 in Kingston , London ) is an Irish football player. Reid is mostly used as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a striker.

Reid grew up in London and made his professional debut in 1998 at the age of 17 at the then third-rate London club Millwall . In 2000 he rose with the club in the then second-rate Football League First Division . For the 2003/04 season he moved to the Blackburn Rovers after 158 games for Millwall in the Premier League . In the first year he was only a substitute player, but since the summer of 2004 a regular player.

After seven years in Blackburn , he moved to West Bromwich Albion in the 2010/11 Premier League in the summer of 2010 .

National team

Although Reid was born British, grew up in England and even played a few games for English national teams in the youth field, he was called up in 2001 because of his Irish grandparents in the selection of the Irish Republic. Reid quickly established himself as a regular, so he took part in the 2002 World Cup, where he made two appearances for Ireland. In total, he played 23 times in the boys' dress in Green , including one in August 2006 as captain .
