Steven Rybin

Steven Rybin (born June 7, 1979 ) is an American film scholar and author .

Life

Rybin holds a Master of Arts from Emory University in Film / Cinema / Video Studies (2003–2005) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Arts (Film Studies and Philosophical Aesthetics) from Ohio University (2005–2009).

From August 2005 to March 2008, he taught as a Graduate Teaching Associate at Ohio University. From August to December 2007 he was a Visiting Instructor of Film at Denison University . Since August 2010, he has been an assistant professor in film studies at Georgia Gwinnett College. He is also an assistant professor at Minnesota State University, Mankato .

His main research interests are in the areas of film authorship , film exploitation , film history and film theory .

He has published books on the work of directors such as Michael Mann , Terrence Malick and Nicholas Ray .
