The Steyr 188 is a tractor from the manufacturer Steyr Daimler Puch . It is the first model in the anniversary series . 23,223 units of this 28 hp tractor were built between 1960 and 1966.

engine

The tractor is driven by the Steyr two-cylinder diesel engine type WD 209. It is a water-cooled engine, which is extremely economical thanks to an economical combustion process. The engine has a stroke of 115 mm and a displacement of 1991 cm³. The motor is self-supporting connected to the gearbox.

transmission

A gearbox with 2 × 4 forward and 2 × 3 reverse gears is built into the tractor.

Brakes

The tractor has a mechanical inner shoe brake that acts on the rear wheels.

Mountain version

There was also a mountain version of this tug named Steyr 188 n, which was built from 1965 to 1966. This tractor had a lower center of gravity and smaller rear tires and was therefore very suitable for driving on slopes. Other than that, this tractor was identical to the standard model.
