The Steyr 70 ( Steyr 70 a with all-wheel drive) tractor from the Steyr Plus series by Steyr Daimler Puch was built from 1968 to 1970.

In 1966, the existing anniversary series with an orange round bonnet was gradually replaced by the new Plus series, with the Steyr 70 of this series replacing the Steyr 288/290 in the anniversary series in 1968. The water-cooled diesel engine of the type WD 410 t with four cylinders and 3,983 l capacity had a power of approximately 51 kW (70 hp). The transmission from ZF Friedrichshafen had eight forward gears and four reverse gears, on request also up to 16 forward gears and eight reverse gears. The maximum speed was given as 27 km / h.

The tractor was available as the Steyr 70 in the rear-wheel version and as the Steyr 70 a in an all-wheel version. A cabin was available on request. A total of 3,360 copies of the Steyr 70 and Steyr 870 were sold, and just under 490 of the all-wheel-drive versions 70 a and 870 a.

The body was designed by the French industrial designer Louis Lucien Lepoix .

The tractor was replaced in 1971 by the Steyr 870 , which apart from the type designation differed through a further developed engine, which however had the same power.
