The umbrella brand Nationale Naturlandschaften brings together a large part of Germany's large protected areas , including all 16 national parks , all biosphere reserves and part of the 105 nature parks . The large protected areas are protected landscapes that are intended to preserve and develop the natural heritage. They secure the habitats of humans and nature by protecting soil, water and air as well as communities of animals and plants. You contribute to the careful development of the natural and cultural landscapes. Since nature conservation is a matter of the state, the common umbrella brand was developed. The brand is intended to standardize and support nationwide communication, attract attention and show which natural beauties can be discovered in Germany. The goals of the National Natural Landscapes are different. The range extends from the creation of undisturbed wilderness to the use of the landscape without destroying nature. The aim of EUROPARC Deutschland eV is to unite these differences under one roof. The association is a national section of the EUROPARC Federation , a non-profit organization that operates across Europe.

history

  • In 1973, the Hamburg businessman Dr. hc Alfred Toepfer the European umbrella organization Federation of Nature and National Parks in Europe, now known as the EUROPARC Federation. In 1991, EUROPARC Germany was founded as the umbrella organization for the local national parks , biosphere reserves and nature parks .
  • Between 1993 and 1997, EUROPARC Germany was able to use a common image for some national parks , but this did not prove to be permanent.
  • In November 2004 EUROPARC Germany started the project to bring all large protected areas under one roof.
  • The corporate design was established at the beginning of 2005 . Since it should represent many different natural landscapes , the logo should offer uniformity, but also allow individuality. That is why the concept of the point, which is three-colored, was developed. Each national natural landscape has its own color combination.
  • One year after the start of the project, on November 21, 2005, the “National Natural Landscapes” brand was presented to the public at a press conference at the Federal Press Office in Berlin. On the podium were Roland Koch , Prime Minister of Hesse, Fritz Brickwedde , Secretary General of the German Federal Environment Foundation (DBU), Eberhard Henne, Chairman of EUROPARC Germany, and Herbert Günther, Chairman of the Association of German Nature Parks (VDN).
  • In 2006 German politicians announced their support for the National Natural Landscapes: in May Chancellor Angela Merkel in a speech in Bonn and in October Federal President Horst Köhler .
  • The Bundestag resolution entitled “National Natural Landscapes - Opportunities for Nature Conservation, Tourism, Environmental Education and Sustainable Regional Development”, which took place at the end of March 2007, contributed to political support not only at the federal level, but also at the state level.

Projects and programs

In addition to area and topic-specific projects, the umbrella organization EUROPARC Deutschland eV coordinates innovative and supra-regional programs in the national natural landscapes.

Marketplace nature

In 2013, EUROPARC Deutschland eV launched the internet-based platform “Marktplatz Natur”, which brings together projects for environmental, climate and nature protection from the national natural landscapes and potential sponsors. EUROPARC Deutschland eV develops, organizes and coordinates the projects across borders. On marktplatz-natur.de new projects are continuously posted and successful funding is documented.

Junior ranger

Junior Ranger Program

The nationwide junior ranger program is an educational and leisure offer that gives children the opportunity to come into contact with the “National Natural Landscapes”. The children are enthusiastic about biological diversity, actively campaign for nature and environmental protection in their region and work together in a Germany-wide junior ranger network . This gives them the necessary skills for a sustainable lifestyle and, for example, learns about their own environment in a creative and playful way in the interactive online learning game Junior Ranger Web , and they are enthusiastic about actively participating.

EUROPARC Deutschland eV organizes corporate volunteering missions in the national natural landscapes, in which company employees work in a practical and meaningful way in nature conservation. The tasks are varied and range from the mowing of wet meadows to the renaturation of streams to the creation of nature trails. EUROPARC Deutschland eV forms the link between the protected area and companies. The association mediates the deployment, provides information material and takes on the final issuing of certificates.

Nature is a matter of honor

"A matter of honor for nature - volunteers in parks" has been systematically building up and expanding volunteer management in the "National Natural Landscapes" since 2003. In the program, volunteers of all ages are involved in a variety of nature conservation and environmental education projects. "Ehrensache Natur" offers special offers, for example for volunteers with disabilities and international volunteers. “Nature as a matter of honor” was recognized as a project of the UN Decade of Biological Diversity .

Partner of the National Natural Landscapes

The slogan "Partner of the National Natural Landscapes" stands for cooperation programs between protected areas and regionally based businesses. These so-called “partner initiatives” combine a guest-oriented nature experience with high quality standards and at the same time take the protection of nature into account. They are the success model of a win-win situation for the tourism industry , guests and nature.
