Large reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large reserve plays a role as a term in geography , ecology , agriculture , nature conservation and tourism .

National parks , biosphere reserves and nature parks are understood and summarized under large protected areas . These areas fulfill tasks that are useful for the protection of nature and landscape on the one hand, but also for recreation , tourism and education on the other . In some countries - for example in Brazil or Australia - there are also special indigenous protected areas which, in addition to nature conservation, were created in particular to preserve the traditional life of indigenous peoples living close to nature .

In the case of large protected areas, a kind of “model landscape” is intended for environmentally and resource-conserving , sustainable economic development as an interaction between man and nature. In addition, there are different priorities, depending on the large conservation area, which seek to preserve the special ecological and aesthetic qualities of the natural and cultural landscape .

Development priorities for area protection and large protected areas

  • Further development of quality criteria and standards
  • regular evaluation
  • Ensuring sustainable financing
  • Improvement of the protected area management and communication
  • Improvement of research and monitoring
  • Cross-protected area and cross-border cooperation
  • Implementation of federal funding projects in large protected areas
