Fritz Brickwedde

Fritz Brickwedde (born July 23, 1948 in Osnabrück ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and lobbyist . From 2013 to 2018 he was President of the Federal Association for Renewable Energy and previously Secretary General of the German Federal Environment Foundation (DBU). As a local politician, he is currently chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the council of his hometown Osnabrück.

biography

Fritz Brickwedde studied history , political science and journalism at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. After his exams, he worked as an academy lecturer and department head at the Franz-Wärme-Haus , the academy of the diocese of Münster , as head of the Georgsmarienhütte adult education center and as a department head for school and culture, landscape conservation and regional planning in the Emsland district . There he was also responsible for coordinating environmental protection .

Brickwedde began the development work as Secretary General with the establishment of the German Federal Environment Foundation on March 1, 1991. Before that, he was spokesman for the Lower Saxony state government and head of the press and information office under Prime Minister Ernst Albrecht .

On October 23, 2002, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Process Engineering at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus awarded Brickwedde an honorary doctorate for his “achievements in scientifically sound environmental, nature and cultural protection”.

Since December 20, 2004, Fritz Brickwedde has been the holder of the First Class Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . With this award, his broad voluntary work in favor of the new federal states was recognized.

On October 29, 2013 he was elected as the new President of the German Renewable Energy Association. He succeeded Dietmar Schütz . On March 1, 2018, Simone Peter replaced him at the head of the lobby association.

From 1978 to 1980 Brickwedde was state chairman of the Junge Union in Lower Saxony. Since 2006 he has been chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the City Council of Osnabrück.
