The Federal Association for Renewable Energy e. V. (BEE) is the umbrella and lobby association for the renewable energy industry in Germany . It was founded in 1991 and represents the interests of the industry towards the public and politics. His long-term goal is to achieve a full supply of renewable energies in Germany. The office is in Berlin-Mitte .

In January 2009 the BEE published a forecast that in 2020 around 47 percent of the electricity demand in Germany could be covered by renewable energies.

The association's president has been Simone Peter since March 2018, succeeding Fritz Brickwedde .

Association members

The association's statutes differentiate between ordinary and supporting members. Associations and companies that recognize and actively support the purpose and tasks of the association can become full members . In contrast, individuals, companies and other organizations that recognize and support the purpose and tasks of the association can become supporting members (without voting rights).

Currently (as of January 2018), 22 associations within the meaning of the statutes are full members with a total of over 30,000 individual members, most of whom come from the hydropower , wind energy , bioenergy , solar energy and geothermal sectors . 17 companies are also ordinary members.
