The German Society for Solar Energy e. V. (DGS) is the German section of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). It was founded in 1975 in Munich by scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics .

purpose

DGS headquarters in Berlin

The association has set itself the task of changing the energy industry to a sustainable economic method through the broad introduction of renewable energies .

The DGS pursues this goal on the one hand by promoting research on renewable energies as well as the implementation of the research results obtained in practice, and on the other hand by lobbying to improve the social and legal framework for renewable energies. To support these goals, it conducts targeted public relations work. Since mid-2007 the DGS e. V. publishes the oldest German solar specialist magazine SONNENENERGIE ( ISSN  0172-3278 ) again. Previously it was produced by Solarpraxis AG (Berlin) for DGS.

The association also sees itself as a mediator between scientists, engineers, architects, the building trade, crafts, industry, authorities and parliaments. It therefore tries again and again to offer forums for exchange between these social and economic groups, for example in the form of congresses, seminars and hearings. The DGS also supports the Intersolar trade fair .

At the same time, the German Society for Solar Energy is a recognized non-profit consumer protection association according to § 22  AGBG (now § 3  UKlaG ). It represents the interests of consumers and users in the areas of renewable energy and the rational use of energy.

Individuals as well as institutions and companies can become members. The work on site is carried out in 36 subsections, some of which are combined in five regional associations.

activities

  • The DGS is structured in a decentralized manner in sections and regional associations. This enables nationwide as well as regional activities.
  • The DGS offers various services.
  • The DGS deals with strategic questions of the solar energy transition .
