In SI units

Sthen (from ancient Greek σθένος sthenos , German 'strength, power' ) is the name of two historical units of power .

In the Mieschen system of units , standing was defined as:

1 Sthen = 1 VAs / cm = 1 J / cm = 10 7  dyn  = 100  N

In the later French MTS system (from 1919) standing ( unit symbol : sn) was a derived unit of force:

1 sn = 1  t  * 1 m / s² = 1000 kg * 1 m / s² = 1000 N = 10 8  dyn

Akademische Verlagsgesellschaft, Leipzig 1932 (Vol. 11, 1st part), footnote on p. 105: In France the name “Sthen” is sometimes used for the otherwise rarely used unit 10 8 Dyn. Since this name has not yet become established, we may here, in the absence of a better name, designate the electrical force unit 1 joule / cm as “a sth”.
